We are glad to announce our investment in Freeda. The Italian millennial women-focused media company recently announced that it raised a $10 million Series A. The round was led by Alven, a Paris-based venture capital firm that funds media and information technology companies. Other participants included U-start and a group of international business angels. Thanks to the capital raise, Freeda will keep investing in the brand and expand their activities in Spain and Spanish speaking countries.
But, what actually is Freeda? Founded in 2016 by Gianluigi Casole and Andrea Scotti Calderini, Freeda is an organization that releases digital media on Facebook, Instagram and recently also on Youtube and LinkedIn. The company creates videos, images and essays on posts that deliver the achievements of women, beautifully celebrate diversity and connect them in a positive way.
The publishing started in February 2017 and, since then, has been tailoring a straightforward and value-based multimedia content to its fast-growing audience. “We saw a huge opportunity to build a media brand able to represent millennial women in an authentic and relevant way. We saw as fundamental to set up something that was able to promote its core values”, told the Co-Founder Gianluigi Casole.
